TOYBOX Team Shares Exciting Literacy and Numeracy Activities at Emerson Kinder College!
July 15, 2024
Recently the TOYBOX team went on a road trip out to Emerson Kinder College for the day. At this event 16 children had the opportunity to do various literacy and numeracy activities with different team members. The activities involved a range of skills, from counting and naming various numbers, to naming letters and making letter sounds.
A favourite activity for both the TOYBOX team and children at the centre involved team members making up a story about plastic bears and children practicing their math skills by counting out different numbers of bears at various points in the story. Other activities involved objects like magnetic alphabet letters, which children used their imagination to extend beyond their intended use for literacy activities and arrange by colour in the shape of a rainbow.
As the day progressed, it was clear that the TOYBOX team’s visit to Emerson was a great blend of play and learning. Both team members and centre staff witnessed the children’s eagerness to participate in activities and everyone was full of smiles and high fives by the end of the day. The team hopes to make it back one day soon!
